41" GFX Drop Down Bomber

Top quality board. I purchased a sector9 longboard (same style) 2 weeks ago and it was starting to show stress cracks at the front and rear ends. I stopped riding it immediately and gave it to my kids. I'm a heavier rider, at almost 200lbs, so i don't blame the board as i think it's a standard board, and i didn't account for my weight. I saw this Ehlers board can support up to 350 and picked it up. So glad i did. Everything seems well built and sturdy. Bought it on sale and saved a good chuck of money. Absolutely no regrets, will be coming back to Ehlers for my next board.

This is one solid board. For an affordable price I got this board just last week and it feels amazing on my feet. The Orangatang wheels makes it more fun to cruise, bomb down hills, and makes riding over all injoyable.

My wife and kids bought me my first longboard for my 43rd birthday. Skated until my early-mid 20's. Mountain biked since.

This review is specifically for the 41" Dropdown Bomber with Free Soul trucks and ZaZa 76mm 78a Gel Soft wheels.

When I first hopped on the board...the butter-smooth ride was very apparent. I am however pushing 230# as a 6'2" rider. I noticed that on flat ground and slight uphills...I was working pretty hard to maintain momentum.

At my weight, I noticed a couple of modifications that really helped me get the most out of this board.

1. The deck is stable. Low center of gravity and plenty of foot room. Quality seems great...especially for the money.

2. The trucks feel great and turn very responsively. My first foray into a reverse kingpin truck and I'm impressed. The stock bushings howeveer (black) are a little soft for my weight. Ehlers sent me a harder set free of charge that are perfect. THANKS GUYS!! No speed wobbles downhills. Fantastic!

3. The wheels...76mm 78a Gel Soft wheels aren't for heavy riders.

I have a 3/4mi stretch of blacktop testing ground near my house that's a 6-8-foot wide path that traverses East-West through a park area. It's got a 33-36' incline/decline depending on the direction your'e traveling and has a couple of places in the middle that are gradual up'n'down.

Traveling from west-to-east, it's inclined. My average time on this section is around 5:14. Moving the other direction (mostly decline) averaged 3:36.

I changed my wheels to a very popular hard-core 85mm / 83a and knocked over a minute-an-a-half off my total out-and-back time. Oddly, the most time was knocked off the uphill/ incline direction. Incline 4:04 / decline 3:13.

My daughter who is around 135# bought a 40" Pintail with the 65mm gel soft wheels. From a dead stop, she will roll/accelerate faster than my 230# on the 76mm gel soft cruiser wheels.

My conclusion is that the ZaZa 76mm Gel Soft Cruisers are too pliable and soft for a heavy rider. (plenty of data to back this up on the .net) They are deforming / squishing too much and working me harder. At 230#...go with the harder wheels to support your weight better.

I've been eyeballing longboards for a couple years now but my mountain bike passion generally gets my paychecks attention.

My wife and daughters picked out this board for my 43rd birthday. Hadn't skated since I was 21...and back then, it was street, stairs, ledges, etc...

I was a little apprehensive at first, but skateboarding seems to be like riding a bike or playing a guitar. Muscle memory will get you so much farther than you'd think...I was bombing my 3-block DH street to the CulDeSac within minutes of unpacking it. It wasn't initially as fast as I had anticipated until I tried a slightly steeper hill behind my neighborhood. All of the sudden, it was like I was riding on the saucer sled in Christmas Vacation. Freaking rocket.

It's a comfy board and turns better than any Adrenaline or Plan-B street board that I used to ride 20 years ago...yet seems super stable.

Great for cruising, great for bombing, great for a beginner, great for a returning veteran. Beautiful blue wood grain, good job on the striped grip tape, nice house brand Free Soul trucks, 76mm soft gel wheels are fantastic on the sidewalk and take the rumble out of the street.

Love it guys...love it.

Stopped by the store one day and was looking at the selection and this board caught my attention. I liked the look of the board and Ryan mentioned it's one of his best selling boards because it rides so low to the ground. I have this setup with Bear Grizzly 852's and Zaza 76mm wheels. This board is so fun to ride. Quick run to the store, cruising the strand and even commuting. If you don't already have one, get yourself one. You are missing out.

I've had my Ehler's Bomber now for a couple of weeks and couldn't be happier. I think they offer a quality product at a great price. We liked mine so much we bought my wife and Elk 40" board. I'll be back for more.

I couldn’t stop smiling as i revealed this board from the box, not only is their website extremely well put together, but the board is an absolute work of art and a bang for your buck.. From the griptape to the wheels, the attention to detail on this board is very impressive. Extensive research was done before purchasing my first longboard and the Ehlers drop down was by far the best design out of all in my opinion. The curvature and color of the board stands out like a Les Paul guitar. I snowboard in the winter so i am familiar with proper cambers and shapes of deck. The flex on this is immaculate, exactly where you’d want it to be!

just received my drop down bomber . its even more beautiful in person . the board is very well constructed . its very sturdy . hardly any flex , when i stould in the center . the concave is mellow ,feels good and comfortable under my feet . nice big wide platform . it is so much more comfortable to push being low . i bought this board because i have a street park board with no risers and 60mm wheels and it still felt uncomfortable pushing to cruise on . this board got me low and happy . just came back from skating it and skating much longer distance than i normally do and i don't feel a thing . after all my research online of drop down boards , i chose the ehlers drop down bomber and i'm glad i did . it is high quality and affordable . it is all i expected and more ! thank you
